Air6162 Fusion Splicing For Optical Fibers

Two-core multimode optical fiber fusion splicing

Another technique is fusion splicing, where the fibers are fused together, e. Fusion splicing is the most widely used method of splicing as it provides for the lowest loss and least reflectance, as well as providing the strongest and most reliable joint between two fibers. Two different methods exist for splicing fibers: Typical splice loss values (the measure of loss in optical power across the splice point) are usually lower for fusion splices (typically less than 0. Single-mode fiber sends light in one straight path, while multimode fiber sends light in many paths. Fully Automactic Multi-core fiber fusion splicer.

How a fiber optic fusion machine fuses multimode optical fibers

Fusion splicing fuses fiber ends via an electric arc, creating a molecular bond that mimics the fiber's inherent strength. Key performance metrics include: ①Insertion Loss: ≤0. 02 dB (SMF, AI10-rated) for long-haul networks. ②Return Loss: >60 dB (APC splicing) to suppress back. The fusion splicing process for fiber optics follows a similar procedure across all automatic splicing machines. This technique involves using localized heat to melt the ends of two optical fibers and fuse them together. Fusion splicing is the most widely used method of splicing as it provides for the lowest loss and least reflectance, as well as providing the strongest and most reliable joint between two fibers.

Domestic fusion splicer capable of splicing 654e optical cables

💡 Quick Answer: For backbone trunk lines, choose a 6-motor core alignment splicer (COMWAY C10S, Sumitomo Type-82C+). For FTTH/drop cable work, the COMWAY A33 or JETFIBER H5+ offer the best value. Budget 6-motor options: TEKCN TC-600, FIBERMAX FI-6. E is with large effective area, some fusion splicers cannot accurately identify the core and cladding, and need to be set to cladding alignment or even multi-mode mode to splice, which would have a potential impact on splicing loss.
