Connection to the incoming port of the distribution box

The incoming power supply is connected to the main terminal or main MCB of the distribution box, ensuring proper phase, neutral, and earth connections for safe and efficient power distribution.

Step-by-

Step Connection1. Safety First: Always turn off the main power supply before starting any installation to prevent electrical shock or accidents. 2.

Secure the Distribution Box: Mount the box on a stable wall at an accessible height, typically around 1. 5 meters, ensuring it is dry and well-ventilated. 3.

Identify Incoming Wires: The incoming supply usually consists of a live (phase) wire, a neutral wire, and an earth wire. In single-phase systems, the live wire is often brown or red, and the neutral is blue or black. 4.

Connect to the Main Terminal or MCB: Attach the live wire to the main MCB or main terminal. For single-phase domestic installations, a double-pole MCB is commonly used as the main switch. Connect the neutral wire to the neutral bus bar or link inside the distribution box.

Connect the earth wire to the earth bus bar to ensure proper grounding. 5. Connect Protective Devices: If an RCCB is used, connect the output of the main MCB to the input of the RCCB, and then connect the output of the RCCB to the individual circuit breakers.

This provides protection against leakage currents and electrical shocks. 6. Outgoing Circuits: Connect each circuit wire to its corresponding MCB or protective device, ensuring correct labeling for easy identification and maintenance.

7. Verification: After all connections are made, use a multimeter to check for continuity, correct voltage, and absence of short circuits before switching on the main power.

Key Considerations

Wire Gauge: Ensure the wire size matches the load requirements to prevent overheating. Insulation: All exposed wires should be properly insulated to avoid short circuits. Load Distribution: Avoid overloading circuits; distribute the load evenly across MCBs.

Compliance: Follow local electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC) for safety and legal compliance. By following these steps, the incoming port of the distribution box will be safely and efficiently connected, ensuring reliable power distribution throughout the building.
