Basic Installation of Micro-modules

Micro-modules can be installed by safely wiring them into an existing electrical circuit or network, following proper safety steps, and configuring them via app or manual controls.

Electrical Micro-

Module Installation

Step 1: Safety First Turn off the power at the circuit breaker before starting any installation to prevent electric shock. Use a voltage detector to confirm that the circuit is de-energized. Step 2: Access the Junction Box Remove the wall plate and carefully unfold the wires inside the junction box.

Identify the wires by color: blue for neutral, green/yellow for ground, and brown, black, or red for live/phase. Step 3: Connect the Micro-ModuleCut the live wire in the middle and strip both ends. Connect the module according to the manufacturer's instructions, either by clipping or screwing the wires into the module terminals.

Place the micro-module inside the box, ensuring it fits properly. If the box is too shallow, consider replacing it with a deeper “sock” or DCL box. Step 4: Restore Power and Configure Turn the power back on and test the module.

For smart modules, use the corresponding app (e.g., Insteon Director or Netatmo) to pair and configure the device, set schedules, or link with other devices.

Fiber Optic Micro-

Module Installation

Step 1: Plan the Route Determine the path for micro-cables in ducts or pathways. Ensure the route is clear and measure the total length to plan for multiple cable segments if needed. Step 2: Prepare the Blowing System Use an air-blown micro-cable system for high-fiber-count cables.

Ensure personnel are trained and familiar with fiber optic handling. Step 3: Install the Micro-CablesStart blowing the cable from the designated entry point. Use proper tools to maintain bend radius and avoid kinks.

For tight spaces, apply firm pressure with a smooth tool to guide the cable without damaging it. Connect the cable to the microduct or pathway endpoint, ensuring slack is properly managed.

Tips and Precautions

Always follow manufacturer instructions for both electrical and fiber micro-modules. Ensure compatibility with existing circuits or network systems. For smart modules, verify app or hub requirements before installation.

Maintain proper bend radius and avoid sharp edges for fiber cables to prevent signal loss. Test the system after installation to confirm proper operation. By following these steps, micro-modules can be safely and efficiently installed for both electrical control and fiber optic applications, ensuring reliable performance and future expandability.
