Multiple vertical cable tray fixing brackets

Vertical cable tray fixing brackets must be installed according to structural, load, and code requirements to ensure safe and durable support for electrical cables.

Material and Bracket Selection

Vertical cable tray brackets are typically made from cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel, or aluminum alloy to provide mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, with surface treatments such as hot-dip galvanizing or electrostatic spraying meeting anti-corrosion standards (GB/T 13912). Brackets must support the load-bearing capacity of the tray, usually not less than 200 kg/m, and comply with fire resistance ratings (GB 8624 Class B1). Common bracket types include: Cantilever brackets: Mounted directly to walls for vertical runs.

Pendant or ceiling brackets: Suspended from ceilings using threaded rods. Adjustable wall brackets: Allow flexibility for alignment and spacing.

Mounting and Spacing Guidelines

Brackets should be fixed to solid structural surfaces (walls or ceilings) using verified fasteners suitable for the load and fire protection requirements. Spacing between brackets depends on tray width and load but typically ranges from 600 mm to 1200 mm vertically, with closer spacing near joints or changes in direction (≤150 mm). For multi-layer installations, maintain a minimum 150 mm separation between power and weak-current trays, and use isolation plates at crossings.

When passing through fire compartments, reserve firestop space and use certified firestop materials (GB 23864).

Installation Procedure

Layout Planning: Follow a pre-determined tray route designed by a qualified engineer, considering building codes, equipment locations, and clearances. Bracket Fixing: Secure brackets to walls or ceilings using appropriate anchors, threaded rods, or cantilever adapters. Ensure brackets are level and aligned with the tray path.

Tray Attachment: Place the vertical tray onto the brackets and secure with bolts or fasteners (e.g., mushroom head bolts FLM 6X12/FLM 6X16). Support at Joints and Direction Changes: Provide additional bracket support near joints, bends, or height changes to prevent sagging or stress on the tray. Inspection and Compliance: Verify that all brackets and trays are properly aligned, load-bearing, and meet fire, corrosion, and mechanical standards before cable installation.

Safety and Best Practices

Only qualified personnel should perform installation, following local electrical codes and occupational safety procedures. Avoid overloading trays; calculate cable fill according to NEC 392. 22 or local standards to prevent overheating.

Use corrosion-resistant fasteners in humid or industrial environments to extend system life. By following these guidelines, vertical cable tray fixing brackets can provide a safe, durable, and code-compliant support system for electrical installations in commercial and industrial settings.
